Welcome Letter

Insightful Dressage

Welcome! I am so happy that you are here. I don’t know how you have stumbled upon this blog (perhaps scrolling the internet or maybe you happened upon my website which landed you to this introduction letter). Whatever the case may be, I am so glad you are here. I wanted to write this welcome letter as sort of an introduction to this educational blog, Insightful Dressage. After all, we don’t know each other, but I thought it best to introduce myself.

My name is Alanna Bent. I am a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist and have trained my own horses from the ground up (un-started to FEI). I have competed in the FEI levels of dressage, performed at various expositions, breed inspections, and benefit events. I have authored various published articles within The Friesian magazine as well as been featured in Horse Illustrated magazine. I am extremely passionate about teaching; be it people or horses teaching is a huge passion of mine. I believe in a growth mindset and to never stop learning. Since you are reading this, we probably share a like-minded thought process on learning. It is because of this passion for learning and teaching that I have started this blog.

My goal of this blog is to simplify dressage. Too often I see riders confused and frustrated thinking that dressage is this mysterious entity that’s complexities rival that of a degree in rocket science, when in fact, it is not. That’s not to say it isn’t work to ride and train a dressage horse ( if it was easy everyone would do it), but it doesn’t have to be so frustrating. The path to Grand Prix is not some foggy road that we stumble through. This blog is meant to show the end of the tunnel and provide you with a greater level of knowledge and understanding.

“Every journey begins with a single step“ — Maya Angelou

Whether you are here to further your education in dressage, learn to rid yourself of competition nerves and riding fear, or simply because of genuine curiosity about the sport, I am so excited to be apart of your learning journey! Cheers!
